Brendan Rodgers can’t wait to meet the Leicester City fans in person and detail his vision for the club’s future.

The City boss said he was looking forward to a fan event, which is yet to be confirmed but is being organised behind the scenes, where he will be able to answer questions from the supporters and get more of a feel for the Blue Army and the club’s fan identity.

Rodgers is keen to create closer links between himself, his staff and the players on the pitch with the fans in the stands, creating a greater bond around the club.

Rodgers would be the first manager since Nigel Pearson, in his first stint as City boss, to participate in a public fans’ event.

“It has been a great few weeks, just talking to everyone and getting a feel for the staff and the players,” said Rodgers.

“We are organising something with the supporters soon so that will be nice to get their take and feel on it.

“I have been received very well and the supporters will have a very important role in what we are trying to do.”

A disconnect grew between a section of supporters and Claude Puel before Rodgers’ arrival and his appointment seems to have already galvanised the club’s fanbase.

The City fans have already sung his name and held aloft banners to welcome him to the club.

Rodgers said his aim is to create a City side that has an identity the fans will be proud of.

“I think, over the course of my time here, I want to create an identity for Leicester City,” he said.

“That is important. That will be based around an aggressive, attacking style of football.

“Creating that identity is, for me, based around the notion of creating and scoring goals, and being very hard to play against.”
