Robbie Savage says Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita's save to deny Jamie Vardy a certain equaliser for Leicester City was "world class" and compared it to Liverpool stopper Alisson's in midweek.

Guaita turned Foxes striker Vardy's low shot onto the post and gratefully collected the rebound off the woodwork.

That crucial stop came with ten minutes remaining on the clock and Palace protecting a 1-0 lead thanks to Luka Milivojevic's stunning long-range strike six minutes before half-time .

And Savage has compared the save to the one Liverpool 'keeper Alisson pulled off with minutes remaining on Tuesday night, denying Arkadiusz Milik to send his side through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

"I was watching the game and (Rachid) Ghezzal came on and he was a threat on the right-hand side," Savage said on BBC's 606 programme.

"He was whipping some balls in, he set up a chance for Vardy - an unbelievable save by the way.

"People talk about Allisson's save. I don't think that was a wonderful save. It was an important save, I don't think it was a wonderful save. It was straight at him!

"This save from the Crystal Palace goalkeeper today was unbelievable - world class. Vardy should have scored and I thought Leicester were better in the second half."
