Leicester City Under-23s suffered the first defeat of their PL2 campaign on Friday night as they were beaten 3-0 by Brighton.

PL2 Player of the Year Aaron Connelly's opener got the visitors off to a dream start at the King Power Stadium before second-half strikes from Peter Gwargis and Bojan Radulovic completed their victory.

Viktor Johansson, Mitchell Clark and Darnell Johnson returned to the Foxes starting eleven after being left out for Monday's draw with Blackburn Rovers, but Brighton dominated the evening's entertainment.

The Seagulls opener came at the end of a swift defence-to-attack counter, ended in emphatic style as Connelly curled the ball into the corner from range.

Leicester did threaten on occasions and came closest when George Hirst, making his debut off the bench, rattled the cross bar as he got on the end of a George Thomas cross.

The Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate also came close with a free-kick shortly after the break, but Brighton would double their lead moments later as Gwargis broke free following a defensive error - before Radulovic added insult to injury as his 89th minute striker sealed Brighton's win.
