Leicester and Liverpool compete for Gelhardt
Leicester City are hoping to swoop in in Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardt - and completing a transfer deal that will defy Liverpool.
Reports in the Sun claim that Leicester and Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the striker this season - with the Foxes hoping to pull the rug on Liverpool's interest in the youngster.
The Liverpool born youngster has appeared in fifteen games for the Latics this season, scoring a single goal in the equivalent of 4.5 full games of action in the Championship.

Soyuncu tipped for Barcelona
Caglar Soyuncu’s former agent has touted the Leicester City centre-back for a summer switch to Barcelona.
The Turkish defender has been linked with a transfer to the Catalan giants over recent days with the 23-year-old’s stock on the rise after a terrific season in City’s back-line.
And Mustafa Dogru, his agent when he transferred to City, has said a move to the Nou Camp is a possibility, given La Liga side have shown interest before when Soyuncu was in Turkey with boyhood club Altinordu.
Dogru has also suggested that Liverpool are the only Premier League team that have the potential to take Soyuncu out of the King Power Stadium, with no mention of Manchester City, who had been linked with the defender in January.
“It is possible Caglar can go to play for Barcelona this summer,” Dogru told Spanish sports paper AS.
“Barca already wanted to sign him when he played for Altinordu. We negotiated with them and they presented a project, but we thought that he should go to a team where he would be a permanent starter for him to develop properly. For this reason, we decided to accept the Freiburg proposal."
Leicester City statement on return
The Leicester City squad underwent Covid-19 testing on Monday as the club prepared for a return to group training sessions.
Players made their way to Belvoir Drive individually to take the antigen test for the first time. It will become a regular practice over the next few weeks as City look to ensure the safety of players and staff at the training ground, where a staggered return to normality will commence following a Premier League vote.
The 20 top-flight clubs decided unanimously on Monday to sanction small-group sessions of four or five players at a time in non-contact training, with tackling and spitting banned.
In a statement following the Premier League’s announcement, City said: “Leicester City players reported individually to Belvoir Drive on Monday to undergo the Premier League’s COVID Antigen Testing (CAT) for the first time, before continuing the individual fitness work permitted under previous guidance.
“In accordance with a schedule developed by coaching, medical and sports science staff, the club will now initiate a phased process of developing individual work into small group sessions, in preparation for the resumption of full training as plans are developed.”
The return to group training marks the first step of the Premier League’s Project Restart, which they hope will conclude with fixtures resuming behind closed doors in June.
