Leicester City players are building their fitness ahead of the start of pre-season next week.

Squad members who did not feature on the international stage will return to the club’s Belvoir Drive training ground next Monday, July 1, and will be in decent shape judging by social media.

Gone are the days when players return packing an extra few pounds with the City squad given individual plans for their summer breaks.

Jamie Vardy, Adrien Silva and Callum Elder are among those to provide photographic proof they are following their programmes.

Before the squad broke up for the summer, Rodgers said the intention of pre-season is to “top up” the players’ fitness.

“All the players will have an individual programme for while they’re away so that they come back fit,” the manager said.

“The modern player now, unlike years ago, they come back fit in the main and then we top up that fitness and do other aspects of training within it.

“Years ago, they would have enjoyed their holiday and have come back unfit. And then pre-season was about getting fit.

“Modern players now are athletes and they’ll come back in good condition. We’ll top that up with real intense work so that they have that resistance and push on to a good season.”
