Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha celebrated an emotional victory at Royal Ascot on Saturday evening.

Khun Top and his brother Khun Apichet watched as Cleonte earned victory for King Power Racing, founded by their late father Khun Vichai, in the final race of the meeting in Berkshire.

Silvestre de Sousa rode the 7-2 second-favourite to victory in the Queen Alexandra Stakes, powering into the lead with a furlong to go before holding off a late challenge from last year’s winner Pallastor.

Cleonte was one of the first three horses bought by late City owner Khun Vichai upon his founding of King Power Racing in 2017, and so the victory was a poignant one for the Srivaddhanaprabha brothers, who carried a photo of their father into the winners’ enclosure.

Jockey de Sousa said afterwards: “It means a lot to me. The horses have all run well this week but we've been a bit unlucky.

“I'm delighted for the family and for King Power Racing.”
