Reported Leicester City transfer target Kristoffer Ajer has decided to leave Parkhead, according to reports.

Website The Athletic is claiming that the Celtic defender is keen on departing the Scottish champions, citing a member of the dressing room.

Furthermore, he is declining to sign a new contract with Neil Lennon's side, it is said, with his current deal running out in 2022.

He inked an extension in May 2018 when City boss Brendan Rodgers was still at Parkhead.

Ajer has been heavily linked with a move to City in recent weeks, with Premier League rivals Manchester City, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers also said to be keen and reports last month said a £25m deal was in the offing.

Italian giants AC Milan have also been credited with an interest while French champions Paris-Saint Germain are also in the race according to the latest reports.

Ajer made 66 appearances for Rodgers during the latter's stint at Parkhead, with the Norwegian international winning three Scottish Premiership titles.

Despite the constant rumours, LeicestershireLive understands that the club have no interest in Ajer and will not be pursuing a move for the centre-back this summer.

City have consistently been linked with a host of Celtic stars since manager Rodgers made the move to the King Power Stadium in February last year.

However, despite that speculation, Norwegian international Ajer is not among City’s targets.

He has been a regular for Celtic this season, making 49 appearances, but was kept out of the team by City defender Filip Benkovic last term, when the Croatian was on loan in Glasgow.
