Leicester City have declined to make a bid for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports.

City are one of a number of English sides to have been approached by the Portuguese club, the Daily Mail report, who are looking to generate funds by selling their prize asset.

Fernandes scored 32 goals and set up 18 more in 53 outings last season and Sporting value the 24-year-old at £50m.

However, attempts to procure offers from Leicester, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all been unsuccessful.

Leicester have done business with Sporting before, signing Islam Slimani and Adrien Silva from the capital club, and do want at least one midfielder this summer, but Youri Tielemans is their main target.

As for Fernandes, Manchester United are now the remaining English club who could make a move, although they are also keeping their options open and have been linked to Tielemans.
