Leicester City hold an interest in Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Nadiem Amiri, according to reports.

City are said to be competing with Bayer Leverkusen for the Germany Under-21 international, who looks set to leave Hoffenheim this summer with just one year remaining on his contract at the club.

City are thought to be keen on providing cover for James Maddison and Youri Tielemans and 22-year-old Amiri would be available for just €14 million, German outlet Bild report, albeit his release clause is only valid until the end of the month.

Amiri has been a regular for Hoffenheim since making his senior debut for the club in 2015.

He missed the first half of the last campaign with injury, but returned in January, making 13 appearances in the Bundesliga. He popped up with three goals and two assists, despite playing deeper than his usual attacking midfield role.

Over the summer, Amiri, playing on the left wing, helped Germany Under-21s to the European Championships final, scoring three goals and providing two assists in five games for the eventual runners-up.
