Everybody loves a roast.  The traditional get together meal with all the trimmings - roast meat, roast potatoes, carrots, peas, cabbage, Yorkshire pudding, parsnips - all served up with a rich gravy.

But what if you don't want to slave over a hot stove making the meal - what if you want to go out with friends and family, sit back, relax and enjoy the company?

Where are the best places to go?  Do you play safe and always go out to the same restaurant?

Maybe you go on a recommendation from a friend?

Well, we were interested in the places that you go and would recommend to others, so we asked the question on our What's On Facebook page, and our readers came up with the following suggestions.

The Geese and Fountain, 1 School Lane, Croxton Kerrial

The Geese and Fountain is described on their website as 'a traditional, friendly village pub on the A607 between Grantham and Melton Mowbray in the village of Croxton Kerrial.'

The pub boasts 'a wide selection of locally sourced food and drink, a quiet and welcoming atmosphere, and comfortable accommodation.

And this sounds like music to my ears 'there is no juke box or fruit machine, but regular live music and a monthly folk club supplement the hum of conversation.'

The pub also notes they also welcome 'dogs, children, cyclists and walkers' and are listed in the 2018 editions of both the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and the Good Pub Guide.

Laura Hadland, posted the picture of her meal, that you can see at the top of the page, saying "Geese & Fountain in Croxton Kerrial still a strong contender on today's performance!"

The Lime Tree, 2 Cambridge Road, Whetsone

The Lime Tree is described as 'a quaint pub/restaurant in the heart of Whetstone, Leicester.'

The website boasts 'a family-friendly environment while still having a traditional pub atmosphere.'

The restaurant is split into two parts - choose from a more casual dining experience in the front of the restaurant or the main bar.

Their main menu offers traditional homemade, premium pub food.

The Lime Tree has its own spacious garden with a garden bar, while the kids can indulge in a Mr Whippy ice cream.
