The weather forecast is looking good, and there's plenty of activities to enjoy in the city and county - whether you're looking for a day out with the family, or a night out with your mates.

Friday, Aug 23 - Monday, Aug 26 - Dead Leicester - Leicester

Dare you take a journey into the dark depths of Old Leicester?

Dead Leicester is back with six live shows over the August bank holiday weekend.

The Dead Leicester Chronicles will be at The Guildhall on Friday, August 23 (6pm and 8pm) and on Saturday, August 24 (7pm and 9pm).

Tickets are £10/ £8 concessions. This is a one hour promenade performance.

The Dead Leicester Walking Tour will take place on Monday, August 26 at 5pm and 7pm and will last one hour, starting at the Magazine Gateway.

Friday, Aug 23 - Brazilian BBQ - The Tree, Leicester

The newly-launched High Street venue is continuing with the 'Around the World BBQ' events started at The Orange Tree.

On Friday, you can enjoy South American food as well as music from Sleazy Wonder and SwellyJam.

The event begins at 7pm.

Friday, Aug 23 - Bank Holiday BBQ - Round Corner Brewing, Melton Mowbray

Celebrate the summer bank holiday with this event in Round Corner's tap room.

As well as the fantastic Round Corner beer, you'll be able to enjoy beer-related food including beer can chicken, BBQ beer ribs, and beer-marinated meats.

The event will begin at 4pm.

Friday, Aug 23 - Bavarian Night with MELT Street Kitchen - Melton Mowbray

Expect German sausages cooked on a swing grill and German burgers (frikadellen) at this Bavarian themed street food event.

It will be in the Market Place from 4pm until 10pm.

Friday, Aug 23 - Sunday, Aug 25 - HallatonFest - Hallaton

This is a three-day family festival, featuring new and upcoming local bands and entertaining tribute acts including Dolly Parton and Bon Giovi, Stamford favourites ‘The Tin Pigeons’ and Uppingham's own Eva Rose (as seen on CBBC show Got What It Takes?).

There will be a new 'healing and well-being' area with local therapists and alternative practices including yoga and meditation, and children’s activities will include a circus skills entertainer, laser tag, inflatables, sand art and a drawing competition.

The festival's large tent will house the acoustic stage by day, but by night will transform into a cocktail bar with ambient music.

There will also be food and craft stalls at the event.

HallatonFest will once again support Leicestershire Air Ambulance, and therapists in the healing area will be giving their time and all donations will go to the charity.

Ticket prices are £15 for an adult standard day ticket, £10 for a standard teen day ticket and children go free. Car parking ticket - £3. Camping tickets are also available. Click here to purchase tickets.

Saturday, Aug 24 - Hinckley Sausage and Cider Festival - Hinckley Rugby Club

Hinckley's annual sausage and cider festival is back, featuring live music, real cider and great sausages.

You can look forward to more than 30 real ciders sourced from artisan producers around the country, including a mouth-watering range of fruit ciders and sparkling craft cider.

Food stalls will be selling sausages including artisan hot dogs, smoked long dogs, sausage wheels, Bratwurst and cheesewurst.

Saturday, Aug 24 - Monday, Aug 26 - Phoenix Beer Festival, Phoenix Leicester

Celebrate summer at the Phoenix Beer Festival, in partnership with Everards.

There will be cask and keg ales, craft beers from local brewers, and guest ciders. You'll also be able to enjoy tasty food, outdoor games, live music and more.

Free entry. Runs from 12pm until late each day.

Sunday, Aug 25 - Syston Food Gusto Festival - Central Park, Syston

This food festival will feature a line-up of local and regional producers, and products including venison, pies, pickles, farmhouse cheese, preserves, artisan bread, crepes and hand-crafted chocolates. There will also be local wines, beers, ciders, spirits and more.

Hot food will include wood-fired pizzas, organic beef burgers, venison and bison, spicy samosas, vegetarian/vegan dishes, Caribbean barbecue food, Indian and Thai dishes.

Children's entertainment will include rides, face painting, henna tattoos, glitter tattoos.

The event will run from 10.30am until 5pm.

Entry is £2 for anyone over 12, 12 or under go free. Payment is made at the gate on the day - cash only.

Sunday, Aug 25 - Let's Ride Leicester, Leicester city centre

A highlight of the Ride Leicester festival is this mass participation ride. It will see thousands of people ride round Leicester city centre on streets that will be closed to traffic and opened up for people to enjoy.

This rolling carnival of colour will be accompanied by Filbert Fox, King Richard III, Alice Hawkins and cycling suffragettes sharing Leicester stories. Register for free here.

Sunday, Aug 25 - Chairman's Mai Tai Street Kitchen and Bar Takeover - 33Cank Street, Leicester

Enjoy a Caribbean evening at 33Cank Street, where there will be a tiki outdoor bar and a Caribbean street food serving dishes made by the talents chefs from 100&Six.

There will be curries served with coconut rice and festival bread, and sides such as saltfish fritters and mango and avocado salad with lime and rum dressing.

Plus, you can enjoy DJ sets by City Fly Records.

The event will run from 3pm until midnight.

Sunday, Aug 25 - Free gig - Firebug, Leicester

Firebug's annual free entry August bank holiday event is back.

You'll be able to enjoy live music from Madness tribute band Gladness playing downstairs, and there will be barbecue food available all day, with meat, veggie and vegan options.

The event is family friendly until 7pm.

The main bar will be open until 4am, and the PLUG silent club night will be upstairs until 4am.

Sunday, Aug 25 - Bank Holiday Street Party - Crafty and Tonne, Leicester

These two venues say they share a love of great products, great people and good times. So, they decided to have a joint party - and you're invited!

Expect smash burgers, pop-up bars, DJs and live music, plus Realms of Rummage featuring lots of brilliant locals independent makers.

The event will run from 3pm until 8pm.

Sunday, Aug 25 and Monday, Aug 26 - Abbey Park Extravaganza - Abbey Park, Leicester

Enter Edem is giving you the chance to step back in time at two family fun days at Abbey Park.

You can enjoy activities such as giant games, circus, puppetry, magic, photo booths, face painting and more. Sunday will have a Victorian theme and Monday will have a Medieval theme.

Each day will run from 12pm until 4pm, and entry is free.

DJ Fitz has been playing in and around Leicester for nearly a quarter of a century.

To celebrate almost 25 years in the game, he is taking on a challenge, to DJ non-stop for 24 hours for charity at 24 Hour Party People.

It will take place from midday on Sunday until midday on Monday.

The event will raise funds to support two Leicester based charities that are dedicated to supporting Leicester’s artists, musicians and performers and using creativity as a tool for social change: Soft Touch Arts and Big Difference Company.

Monday, Aug 26 - Summer Arts and Craft Fair - The Guildhall, Leicester

Visit the beautiful medieval Guildhall where you can eat, drink and shop.

There will be a variety of local artists, makers and crafts people with products including jewellery, original artwork, illustrations and ceramics.

You'll also be able to sample the delights of a local brewery and try some local food produce.

There will be free drop-in activities for children including trails, crafts and face painting (a small charge for face painting).

£1 entry fee/children free. The event will run from 11am until 4pm.

Monday, Aug 26 - Bank Holiday Fun Day - The Pumping Station, Cropston

Enjoy live music, a bouncy castle, stalls and food from the barbecue at this free entry event.

The event will run from 12pm until 5pm.

Monday, Aug 26 - The Countryside Show - Beacon Hill, Woodhouse Eaves

The Countryside Show promises to be a jam-packed, fun-filled, family day out.

New for this year, there will be Archery Legends, Artmetal Blacksmiths, Mike's Donkeys, Punch and Judy, Ewe to You Handspinners and live music.

You can also catch Danny Butler and his team on the Extreme Mountain Bike Show as they jump, flip and balance their way through obstacles and beams, watch sheep dogs in the returning fast-paced dog agility show, step back in time with a Shire horses demonstration and see the park's famous wood carver who will be carving natural creations for the end of show auction.

The event will run from 9.30am – 5pm with tickets available to buy in advance or on the gate.

Monday, Aug 26 - Have a go Archery Day - Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, Sutton Cheney

Join John the Archer and his companions to learn about the medieval war bow, its role in battle and have a go at shooting arrows at the target yourself.

Suitable for five years plus.

Entry to the Ambion Arena is free with a price of £3 to shoot 4 arrows.
