Leicester singer-songwriter Mahalia announces huge tour - including hometown gig

Rising R&B star Mahalia has announced a huge tour of Europe and North America - and it will include a hometown gig here in Leicester.

The Syston singer-songwriter is set to kick off the UK leg of her tour with a performance at Leicester's O2 Academy on November 14 - and tickets go on sale next week.

News of her 'Love and Compromise' tour follows the announcement of her hugely anticipated debut album of the same name - which will be released in September.

The tour will begin in Detroit on September 22, followed by a string of dates across America and Canada, before heading back to the UK for some of her biggest shows to date - including a date at London’s prestigious Roundhouse on November 25.

The songstress will then head out to Europe for several dates, which includes stops in Norway, France, Germany with more to be announced.

Having also recently concluded her sold-out UK/European tour and a support slot on Ella Mai’s US tour, BRIT Award nominee Mahalia announced details of her debut album ‘Love & Compromise’ last month.

The record is set for global release on September 6 and includes two of her previous hit singles ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’.

As an artist signed at just 13, 'Love & Compromise’ is described as "the fruit of Mahalia’s developmental journey so far."

The Leicester native enjoyed an incredible 2018, quickly becoming one of the year’s most exciting breakthrough artists.

She won YouTube’s inaugural ‘One To Watch’ list and soon after became the only musician to be tipped for the BRIT’s Critics Choice Award and the BBC Sound Poll shortlists in the same year.

Mahalia found success via her uncompromising, buoyant songs such as ‘Sober’ her debut single which was released in the summer of 2017 and ‘One Night Only’, a single which was taken from her acclaimed 2018 EP ‘Seasons’.

The summer ahead will see Mahalia performing at an array of festivals including Glastonbury this coming Friday, June 28, where she will perform on the John Peel stage at 12.30pm.
