Prima Cup is perfect platform for under-10s

Leicester Forest RFC hosted the second Prima Tiger Cup festival of the season on Sunday, with scrum-half Sam Harrison dropping in to follow the action.

Supported by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, the Prima Tiger Cup is a free-to-enter contact-based fun event open to all clubs at under-10s level.

After celebrating its 25th year last year, another season begins with festivals covering the Tigers academy region and beyond. Throughout these festivals, Tigers will look to identify clubs who demonstrate the true ethos of the game under event criteria, in keeping with the RFU Age Grade Rules and guidelines.

This week’s teams represented Ashbourne, Ashby, Kettering, Leicester Lions, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Melbourne, Melton Mowbray, Oadby Wyggestonian, Oakham, Old Laurentians, Peterborough, Scunthorpe, South Leicester, Stoneygate, Syston and hosts Leicester Forest.

Young players also had the chance to meet Tigers scrum-half Harrison who was there to watch the action and meet the players for photos.

Kettering and Old Laurentians are invited back to play in the Prima Tiger Cup at Welford Road later in the season, with Loughborough and Market Harborough in the Bowl and Oakham and Stoneygate in the Shield at the famous home of the Tigers.

Attracting more than 70 entries each season, the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single-age playing opportunity in the calendar.

This season’s other festival venues are Tamworth RFC (October 27) and Mellish RFC (November 3).

Places in the Prima Tiger Cup are in large demand every season but if you would like to register your interest, book a place or have any questions about the event, please email [email protected] or visit leicestertigers.com/community/prima_tigers_cup
