Train forced to stop as youngster who fled from carer in Preston city centre runs onto tracks

A youngster who fled from carers in the city centre ran onto train tracks after being spotted at Preston station, British Transport Police said.

The boy, whose age was not given, had "absconded" and "went onto the track after he was spotted [at] the station", a spokesman said.

A train was forced to stop, before the youth was "detained by an officer and, after safeguarding checks, was returned to care staff", the spokesman added.
