Preston man suffers 'chest injuries' and dog escapes from van after vehicle hits tree in Chorley

A man suffered "chest and internal injuries" after his van hit a tree in Chorley, and a dog which was also travelling in the vehicle escaped.

A Peugeot Partner van was travelling on Blackburn Old Road towards Preston when it collided with a tree at around 8.10am today (May 27).

The driver, a 33-year-old man from Preston, suffered chest and internal injuries, as well as a suspected leg fracture.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

A dog, described as a Rottweiler, which was travelling in the van ran from the vehicle after the collision, but people have now reported the dog has been found.

However, police have not yet confirmed this.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We are urging people to be watchful after a dog ran from a vehicle following a collision in Hoghton today (Wednesday, May 27).

"Following the collision a dog, described as a Rottweiler, ran from the Peugeot and has yet to be found.

"An investigation is underway and enquiries on-going."
