Only once has a PNE match been shown live this term – the 2-2 draw with Stoke at Deepdale in August.

Some midweek games have been on the red button – but never as the main match.

Sky recently announced the latest batch of live games up until January 12 and North End do not feature at all.

Leeds will have had 14 games broadcast live by the middle of January, with West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa shown 10 times by the turn of the year.

Last season, North End were shown four times – against Villa, Bolton, Cardiff and Derby.

Under the current TV deal, clubs get £100,000 for a live game if they are the home team and £10,000 as the away club.

A new agreement with Sky is set to come into play next season but Championship clubs have yet to sign off on the five-year deal.

It has been revealed that a number are unhappy with the terms of the deal and there has even been talk of a breakaway.

The new deal is worth £119m a year to the EFL, up from £90m.

But there are a number of Championship clubs pushing for more.

The breakaway threat is thought to be an extreme one but there is certainly a great deal of unhappiness among clubs at the deal which the EFL has negotiated and are asking its clubs to agree to.

There is also an unease about the number of midweek games on the red button.

Championship matches are split between Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with all available live.

The gap in television cash between the Championship and Premier League is huge.

Top-flight clubs get £2.5m per live game, whether they are home or away. They receive an annual payment of £100m from Sky but the facility fee for clubs in the Championship is just £2.3m.
