Police have named a man who died in Lincoln three days after he was found with a serious head injury.

David Turner was found near University Bridge in Brayford Way, Lincoln, at 11.45pm on Saturday, May 16.

The 50-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly passed away on Tuesday, May 19.

Police have arrested and bailed a 38-year-old man in connection with an alleged assault on Mr Turner.

In a statement Lincolnshire Police said: "We can confirm the man who died following this incident at University Bridge in Lincoln was David Turner, aged 50.

"The family have asked for the media to respect their privacy and not to make contact with them."

Investigators are treating Mr Turner's death as unexplained and are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area between 11pm and midnight on May 16 to get in touch.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact  police  on 101 quoting incident number 465 of May 16, or calling 999 in an emergency.
