A popular Lincoln city centre nightspot has closed suddenly only months after a brewery stepped in to take over its running.

It is believed The Dandy Lion Alehouse, in Newland, closed down earlier this week.

Its Facebook page has also vanished, and Google lists the company as 'permanently closed'.

A security firm's sign in the pub's front window said the premises had been 'secured'.

The reasons why the shutters have come down on the business are unknown but in April former Landlord, Adam Kay had told Lincolnshire Live that brewers Heineken had taken it over after he had filed for voluntary liquidation.

The business, which employed 15 people, opened in May 2018.

At the time, Adam said that nothing had changed and said he would stay on as landlord.

He added: "At the end of the day I'm still here and things are going to go on as normal.

"It was not viable so we had to change. It is a bit like restructuring I suppose. Heineken owns the pub. They already own the building.

"Before we only rented the business from them but now they have also taken it over as well."

Adam ran the business through a company called The Dandy Lion Alehouse Ltd.

The company was wound up at a meeting on March 18.

Lincolnshire Live tried to contact Adam for a comment but were unable to do so before publication.
