A woman swapped a stolen mobile phone and a laptop computer for drugs after she swiped the valuables from a car in a car park in Lincoln.

Rebecca Fielding, 36, smashed a window of Alistair Porteous's Hyndai which he had parked in a car park in St Rumbold Street and stole the items.

But she was traced after she cut her hand during the break-in.

Jim Clare, prosecuting, told Lincoln Magistrates' Court: "Mr Porteous parked up in the multi-storey car park [Broadgate] in St Rumbold Street and when he returned he saw that his vehicle has been broken into and an untidy search has taken place.

"His laptop and a Samsung S5 mobile phone are stolen.

"Blood found in the vehicle was analysed and revealed the defendant Miss Fielding."

Mr Clare said that she told police she had found something on the floor to break in with and she cut her hand at the scene.

He added: "She took the items and exchanged them for drugs effectively."

Fielding, of Jellicoe Avenue, Lincoln, formerly of Raglan House, Ruston Way, Lincoln, admitted theft on June 19. Her solicitor offered no mitigation.

She was fined £200 and a drug rehabilitation community order - which include treatment and regular testing - was allowed to continue.
