A woman was rushed to hospital after she was rescued from her car by firefighters in Lincoln.

Emergency services rushed to Vere Street in the city at 1.26am today, Monday, June 10 after reports of a car crashing into a bollard.

Police officers closed the road while ambulance crews and the fire service were on the scene.

A woman inside the car was removed from the car by firefighters and was taken to Lincoln County Hospital by ambulance after suffering minor injuries.

A fire crew remained in the area after oil from the vehicle spilled onto the road.

The road has since reopened to drivers after absorbent granules were used to soak up the spillage.
