The bomb disposal unit was called out after explosives were found at a village home near Lincoln.

The specialist team were deployed to the property in Station Road, Potterhanworth yesterday, Sunday, January 19 after the devices, believed to date back to World War Two, were found.

Mortars, a flare and grenades are believed to be among the items found.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team safely disposed of the items after carrying out a controlled detonation at 3.12pm.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We received a report about some WW2 devices at a property in Station Road. EOD were deployed and safely disposed of the items.

“They were thought to be bombs including mortars, a flare and grenades and EOD carried out a controlled detonation at 3.12pm.”
