A train station in Lincolnshire is one of the least used in the entire UK - and averages less than one passenger every two days.

Havenhouse, near Skegness, saw a measly 128 passengers use the station in 2018/19.

This makes it the fifth least used train station in the country, with Denton in Tameside tying for top spot with Stanlow and Thornton in Cheshire -  both recording only 46 passenger entries and exits.

The station is located between Wainfleet and Skegness, is fitted with just two platforms and has no staff working there.

Tickets can't be bought at Havenhouse so passengers must buy their tickets online or on the train itself.

On Trainline, there are only three trains available per weekday from Havenhouse to Skegness -  one at 7.55am, one at 4.17pm and another at 5.51pm.

Those wanting to travel to Havenhouse from Skegness can get a 7.09am service, 4.11pm service or 5.30pm service on weekdays.

To put the amount of passengers recorded at Havenhouse into context, Lincoln station saw 1,963,938 exits and entries and Nottingham a whopping 8,004,938 entries and exits - making it the busiest station in the East Midlands.

Meanwhile, Skegness saw 350,864 passengers use the station, there were 310,906 exits and entries at Sleaford, 226,940 in Boston, 1,413,006 at Grantham and 519,976 at Retford.

London Waterloo was the busiest train station in the UK, recording 94,192,690 entries and exits.

The findings are from statistics released by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR).
