Lincolnshire born celebrity Guy Martin has appeared in court charged of having a fake driving licence.

The motorcycle racer, who was born in Grimsby, appeared at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 15.

The 36-year-old of Barnetby, Lincolnshire, is accused of possessing an Irish driving licence that turned out to be fake when checked.

This charge related to a period between December 4, 2017, and May 15 this year.

He is also charged with making a false statement by claiming he was the holder of an Irish driving licence for the purpose of obtaining a UK licence on May 14 this year.

Martin denied both charges when he appeared in court.

He has asked for the matter to be taken to trial at Lincoln Crown Court where he will appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

It is set to take place at the court on December 13.

He recently revealed challenges that he planned to take on next.

This included building a motorbike that can go to speeds on 300mph in one mile.

He also says he is building Ford Transit van to try to break the lap record at the Nürburgring for a commercial vehicle.

He hoped to drive a tank up Lincoln High Street for Armistice Day last year but he was unable to because of health and safety fears.

But the tank went on display at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life earlier this year.
