Officers cordoned off a footpath in Boston after the body of a man was found in a river.

Police closed the Haven Bank footpath this morning Wednesday January 15.

Lincolnshire Police have said that the death is not related to the ongoing murder investigation, after the body of a man was found on Sunday January 12 near the pumping station on Chain Bridge Road.

Police release name of man pulled from river

Police have revealed what they believe is the identity of the person found dead in a Boston river.

Officers were scrambled to Haven river close to the footpath at Wormgate in Boston at 8.30am this morning, Wednesday, January 15 after a body was seen floating in the river.

After making inquiries, the force have revealed they now believe his identity to be Scott Butler, a 33-year-old local to the area, although police have stressed formal identification has yet to take place.

No identity of the man yet

It’s unclear whether the body of the man found this morning is in fact related to a 33-year-old who jumped into the River Haven in Boston on Monday December 23.

Officers began searching for the man at about 9.45pm on Monday, December 23 when the emergency services were called to the town’s High Street following a report that a man had gone into the water.

People reported seeing at least three fire engines, six police cars, helicopters and boats searching along the riverbanks.
