A shopper has found possibly the most pointless discount in the UK at an Aldi store in Lincolnshire.

With Christmas just around the corner, shoppers are keen to cut costs and are eyeing up bargain deals in supermarkets across the county.

And discount supermarket Alidi is famed for serving up some of the best deals - but not all of their offers are worth it, based on a photograph taken by one shopper in Boston.

The store in Queen Street has slashed prices on Mcvities Victoria biscuits selection from £4 to £3.99 - that's right, the price has been cut by a staggering 1p.

This 1p reduction was displayed in an Aldi store in Boston.

The reduction was captured by a man during his visit to the shop with his mum on Monday, November 13.

He said: "I only took the picture for a laugh, there's so much bad stuff going on in the world at the moment it doesn't hurt to make people laugh once in a while."

Earlier this year, Lincoln shopper Lenka Garstang and her daughter Ellie spotted a similar reduction, a pot of olives down from £4.50 to £4.49.

Three people remain 'under investigation' after mustard gas was found near Woodhall Spa

Three people remain under investigation by Lincolnshire Police following their arrests more than 12 months ago after mustard gas canisters were found in woods near Woodhall Spa.

Two people were treated for burns after the discovery on October 1, 2017, and a man and a woman from Lincoln, and a Woodhall Spa man, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a noxious substance and released.

Two properties were searched in Lincoln and Woodhall Spa.

Specialists from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, at Porton Down, the Ministry of Defence, and Royal Navy and Army bomb disposal units were called in to remove 150 canisters from Roughton Moor Woods and Stixwould Lake.

The woods were cordoned off until May this year and the cost of the clean up was expected to be about £100,000.

“We buy a pot of olives every time we shop at Tesco and Ellie snacks on them,” she said.

“She runs to the deli counter as soon as we walk into the supermarket.

“I just thought it was funny.

“I haven’t seen that before when buying olives.

"[It just seemed] a ridiculous thing to do. Why would you even bother?"

While Mrs Garstang bought the olives, it is not known whether the Mcvities Biscuit tin was snapped up by our mystery shopper.
