A motorcyclist has died after being involved in a collision with a car.

Emergency services were called to the A57 between Saxilby and Lincoln at 1.19pm on Thursday, June 6, after reports that a motorbike and a car had collided.

Several paramedics crews, including the air ambulance, were seen pictured at the scene and the road remains closed in both directions while emergency services are at the scene.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, Lincolnshire Police confirmed the rider of the motorbike had died.

"The rider of a motorbike, a man, who was involved in a collision with a car on the A57, Lincoln Road, Saxilby, has died," it said.

"The collision was reported at 1.20pm on Thursday, June 6.

"We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward or anyone who was travelling in the area and has dash cam footage to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 213 of June 6."

In a statement put out before the man's death was confirmed, East Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it had sent multiple crews to the scene.

"We received a call at 1.19pm on June 6 to Saxilby Road in Lincoln," a spokesperson said. "The caller reported there had been a road traffic collision between a car and a motorbike. We sent a LIVES community first responder, two paramedics in ambulance cars, a crewed ambulance, and an air ambulance. We are currently still on scene."
