Former Lincoln City striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher has announced his retirement from football after a career spanning two decades.

Taylor-Fletcher took to twitter to announce he was calling time on a career that saw him play across all levels of the football pyramid.

He joined the Imps on a free transfer from Leyton Orient in 2001, reuniting with former Northwich Victoria coach Keith Alexander.

During his time at Sincil Bank, he became a fan favourite and scored some spectacular goals in the red and white, netting 30 times in 90 games.

The man from Widnes won Supporters Player of the Year for the 2003-04 season.

Taylor-Fletcher equalled a 106-year-old club record when he scored in all six opening games at the start of the 2004-05 season and was part of the Lincoln side that lost out on promotion to League One.

On a twitter post he said: "On my 38th birthday, it is time to officially retire and hang up the boots.

"Having took part in over 20 years of pre-season's, this year will be different.

"I've had some fantastic memories along the journey from being a 17-year-old kid at Northwich Vic's in the conference to playing in the Prem at 29 for Blackpool."
