Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley has astonishingly been overlooked for League Two Manager of the Year Award.

The Manager of the Season, Team of the Season and the nominees for Player of the Season has been announced by the EFL.

And the Imps, who have led the table for virtually the entire season, are surprisingly under-represented, with just two players making it into the Team of the Season.

Jason Shackell has named been named in defence, while Michael Bostwick has been picked in midfield, despite playing nearly all the season in the heart of the back four.

Four Mansfield players and two from Bury have made the team.

There is a three-man shortlist for the League Two Player of the Year Award – and surprisingly it doesn’t feature a single Imps player. Winger Bruno Andrade’s admission is arguably the biggest surprise.

A statement from the EFL said: “The shortlist for the League Two Player of the Season features a Bury double, as Danny Mayor and Jay O’Shea join Tranmere Rovers’ James Norwood on the list.

“O’Shea’s 15 goals from an attacking midfield position, coupled with Mayor’s ever-present consistency in Ryan Lowe’s side have given the Shakers a platform to challenge for automatic promotion.

"James Norwood, the League Two top scorer with an impressive 26 goals, needs little introduction, with his goals firing Tranmere into the Play-Offs as things stand.

The EFL added: "All 72 EFL managers were invited to vote for their players of the season, with votes also compiled for the Championship, League One and League Two Teams of the Season."

Bury boss Ryan Lowe, whose side are eight points behind City, has been named League Two Manager of the Season.
