Lincoln City have announced that summer signing Joan Luque is to leave the club on loan.

The Spaniard spent a large chunk of the summer on trial at Sincil Bank on the recommendation of Heybridge Swifts manager, Jody Brown after scoring 30 goals for the Bostik League North side.

He did enough to convince Danny Cowley he was worth a permanent contract and officially joined on a six-month deal for an undisclosed fee on August 9.

However, 43 days after signing the first professional deal of his career, the 26-year-old has agreed to join National League side Bromley on a short-term loan.

The former Barcelona graduate has been in and out of the City side so far this season, but did manage to net his first Imps goal in the Carabao Cup against Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The Imps sit top of League Two and competition for places is high and with Cowley has admitted he is unable to guarantee him a place in the starting eleven.

As a result he has decided to send Luque out on loan to ensure he continues to progress as he acclimatises to the English game.

Talking to the club’s official website, he said: “The plan is for him to play some games. He’s come into the club and has done great - he’s a boy with top end quality who can score goals and create goals.

“He needs to play, and with the team playing so well his chances have been limited and we want to make sure he has a run of games.”

“In the short term as I say, it’s about getting him a run of games.

“Bromley are a really good club. They have an excellent manager and they know about Joan Luque. They know the type of player he is so we expect him to go there and do really well.”
