Generator stolen from N. Charleston family’s food truck

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A family in North Charleston is trying to figure out their next steps after the generator from their food truck was stolen on Thursday.

Tim and Natalie Brock have operated their food truck called Brunch Holiday for about a year and a half. The couple have dreamed of starting their own business, since they got married in 2014.

After two years of building up their brand, they couple quit their corporate jobs and focused solely on the food truck as their own source of income.

““It’s really hard work, said Natalie Brock. “But we enjoy what we do, and we bring a lot of joy to people with our food as well.”

On Thursday morning, the couple reported their Honda 6500 generator missing. The generator was bolted to a welded frame and double chain locked. Tim said he noticed the generator missing from the back of the truck after he arrived at the Charleston Commercial Kitchen, where he always parks his food truck.

His landlord gave him the surveillance footage which shows two people cutting the bike lock used to secure the generator. The two then took the generator away.

The couple says this couldn’t have come at a worse time. The two just had their first a baby in September. Tim is just a week into his recovery, after getting a second hip replacement.

Natalie said they had to close their business down for two weeks while Tim was getting his surgery, and now they don’t know when they’ll be able to start back up again.

Brunch Holiday was featured in the Food Network’s Big Food Truck Tip and won a grand prize last year. Now, they hope they can get their business back up in time to pay their bills.

The couple has started a Go Fund Me page to help recoup their losses. The food truck’s generator is worth $4,000.
