COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - All six of South Carolina's Maximum Security Prisons are on lockdown following an inmate on inmate assault at Broad River Correctional earlier today.

Details surrounding the assault itself are not known, but a spokesperson for South Carolina Department of Corrections says two inmates suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The spokesperson also said the lockdown of all of the facilities is a security precaution, as police investigate the cause of the assault.

We will update with more details as we learn them.
