South Carolina Rep. Ronnie Young passes away Sunday Morning

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The SC Republican Party announced representative of Aiken County Ronnie Young died in his home Sunday morning from an illness he was battling.

The 71-year-old lawmaker was battling cancer and had been in hospice care to treat his illness and suffered a stroke weeks before.

Young represented District 84 and served as chairman for Aiken County, South Carolina Council since 1994, and was a member for 26 years. Rep. Young previously received SC’s highest honor “Order of the Palmeto” which is the state’s highest civilian honor.
