New Delhi: Budget carrier IndiGo on Monday announced that it will start six new international flights connecting Delhi and Mumbai with cities in middle-eastern countries.

The new flights would be on Delhi-Jeddah, Mumbai-Kuwait and Mumbai-Dubai routes, the airline said.

"Effective July 25 and August 5, IndiGo will launch daily non-stop flights connecting Delhi with Jeddah, and Mumbai with Kuwait," the low-cost carrier said in a statement." Additionally, to cater to the increasing demand from the sector, the airline will also launch its third non-stop daily flights between Mumbai and Dubai," it added.

"These new routes once again reflect our unflinching commitment towards expanding our international operations," said William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo.

"Our mission is clear: to boost economic growth in India, and help promote trade, tourism and mobility. These are exciting times for the industry and we are optimistic of the many opportunities that will enable us to contribute towards India's socio-economic growth," said Boulter.

With almost 50 per cent share, IndiGo is the leading airline in domestic air passenger market.

In another news, Indore made it to the international aviation map with national carrier Air India launching a flight service to Dubai from the international airport.

Flight AI903 took wings from the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport with 150 passengers after a traditional inaugural function, Air India (AI) said.

This was the first international commercial flight from Madhya Pradesh.
