The discovery of a woman's body in a Liverpool park has prompted tributes and thoughts for her family .

The emergency services were called out to Springfield Park in West Derby at around 6.30am today following reports that the body of a woman had been found.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The death is not thought to be suspicious and officers were said to be trying to trace the woman's next of kin.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance in Springfield Park in West Derby following reports the body of a woman has been found.

"Emergency services were contacted at just after 6.30am today, Friday 29th May. The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman and contact her next of kin."
