Arsenal defender Sokratis Papstathopoulos has claimed the Gunners may find it easier to defend against Liverpool than Burnley next weekend.

The Londoners travel to Anfield on Saturday with both teams aiming to maintain their 100% start to the Premier League season having won their opening two games.

Unai Emery's side came through a physical test at home to Burnley at the weekend to secure a 2-1 triumph.

And Sokratis, who was part of the Arsenal side thumped 5-1 at Liverpool last season, believes the forward line of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Robertson Firmino for Jurgen Klopp's side will be a less taxing proposition.

“It is a different game," he said. "Maybe it is more easy, because you don’t have to fight a lot - but they also play football,” he said.

“If they are on good day and you are having a bad day, it is hard.

"In the end, we know that it is difficult and we respect Liverpool a lot. But I think the best (way) is to go and play our style of game. We will see what happens.”

Sokratis, who was signed by Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, gave away a penalty at Anfield last season after fouling Mohamed Salah and was then confronted by Virgil van Dijk at half-time having attempted to intimidate the Egyptian.

"The 5-1 last season, t was not the game to take five goals - (there were) the penalty kicks, we made mistakes,” he said to the Evening Standard.

“I think this year will be different, but we have to improve of course from the work we do with the coach and his staff.”

Emery joked at the weekend that he would rather not be facing Liverpool on Saturday.
