Everton continued their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 win over Monaco on Friday.

Seamus Coleman's brave second half header was enough to give Marco Silva's side their first victory of the summer at the third time of asking - following a loss on penalties to Kariobangi Sharks and a 0-0 stalemate against FC Sion.

The Blues had Maarten Stekelenburg to thank for going into the half time interval level after his penalty save denied Marcos Lopes, but the second half saw Everton gain a foothold.

Coleman reacted quickest to Oumar Niasse's deflected attempt to head home despite an onrushing goalkeeper, and Tom Davies crashed a late effort against the bar which would have doubled his side's lead.

However, fans on social media picked up on one particular issue following the win.

Everton have made no secret of their desire to bring in additions to their forward line over the remainder of the transfer window.

And supporters believed today's win showed just how badly the Blues need to get a new striker over the line.

Everton flew straight back to Liverpool following the game and will travel to the DW Stadium to face Wigan on Wednesday.
