Kop legend Robbie Fowler is concerned Liverpool's recent inactivity could threaten their hopes of both Champions League and Premier League glory.

An early exit from the FA Cup means Jurgen Klopp's side will have gone 10 days without a game when they entertain Bayern Munich in their Champions League round of 16 first leg tie on Tuesday.

The Reds boss took his players away for a warm-weather training camp last week in preparation for the match as well as the forthcoming top-flight visit to Manchester United next Sunday.

Fowler, though, is concerned Liverpool could lose momentum similar to when they returned from a mini-break in Dubai last month, after which they dropped points against Leicester City and West Ham United.

"Look, I must admit with all the injuries they had, they’ll have been able to use the time off to get some players back fit and get their training organised, and work on things," said Fowler.

"But I hated not being involved in games when I was a player. I’d much rather win and take the energy and rhythm from that, just as Manchester City have done in recent weeks.

"So I’m a bit apprehensive about which Liverpool we will see next week against Bayern Munich and Manchester United

"There was absolutely no doubt they lost a bit of rhythm after the last break. They looked a little rusty. I hope the same thing doesn’t happen this time."

Fowler, speaking to the Mirror , added: "I will say Jurgen Klopp will be aware of that, and will look at what worked and what didn’t at the last training camp.

"They’ll also have the Kop in full European night voice too, which tends to blow the cobwebs away – so maybe I don’t have to worry so much about momentum this time!"
