It was a weekend of success for many Liverpool loanees, as Harry Wilson was the Derby County hero in their Championship play-off chase and Loris Karius continued his recovery from Kiev out in Turkey as Besiktas won their fifth game on the spin.

Wilson made it 16 goals for the season under the guidance of Frank Lampard as he scored twice in second-half stoppage time to keep Derby's promotion hopes alive. They had left it late to beat QPR at Pride Park on Easter Monday, but the Welshman delivered once again at the death.

With the game goalless heading into injury time, Wilson confidently stepped up and converted from the penalty spot, slotting into the corner of the net under huge pressure. He then added another goal on the counter-attack to make the three points safe in the 101st minute of the game.

The three hidden Liverpool starlets who could play starring role in battle with Man City

With both Middlesbrough and Bristol City both losing, it was vital for Derby to get the three points - they have now moved into sixth place in the Championship and have a game in hand over Middlesbrough, who they are ahead of on goal difference, and Aston Villa, who are fifth.

Karius was also on the winning side as he and his Besiktas teammates continue to chase a Champions League spot in the Turkish Super Lig.

So far this season, Karius has been accused by his own manager of "going stagnant", had his attitude and enthusiasm called into question, and been part of a wage dispute which is now believed to be resolved, as well as making a couple of high-profile errors. He will be glad that things seem to be falling into place at last, with his performances improving in recent weeks by all accounts.

After the events in Kiev that took place last May, it was always going to be a difficult season for Karius as he sought to regain form and confidence. He has another year left on his loan deal, which he will see out, before deciding his next move.

Elsewhere, Marko Grujic, who was linked with a €40 million move to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, played a full 90 minutes as Hertha Berlin drew 0-0 with Hannover.

Certainly, Grujic's reputation has been enhanced during his loan spell in Germany. Now 23, he might feel a permanent move away from Anfield would suit his career progression best this summer, especially given the vast array of central midfield options available at Jurgen Klopp's disposal.

Hertha, it seems, would like to retain his services, with coach Pal Dardai calling him "by far the best midfielder I've seen" in his 22 years at the club, but his performances this season might have priced them out of a permanent move.

Nathaniel Clyne missed Bournemouth's 1-0 defeat against Fulham at the weekend with a hamstring injury that might keep him out for the remainder of the campaign. He had featured in all but one of the matches he was eligible for up until that point, and it remains to be seen where the 28-year-old will end up ahead of next season.

Several Premier League sides are likely to be interested in acquiring him, with it seemingly highly unlikely that he works his way back into Klopp's plans.

Youngsters Pedro Chirivella (Extremadura), Liam Millar (Kilmarnock), Ovie Ejaria (Reading) and Sheyi Ojo (Reims) are also among those Reds players out on loan. Their futures will be assessed during the summer, with several likely to be heading for permanent exits, with others sent out on short-term deals once again.
