Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has called on Andy Robertson to dismiss speculative reports linking him with a move away from Anfield.

The Scotland captain saw himself mentioned in connection with a surprise transfer to Barcelona last month following his consistently excellent form since breaking into the Reds team under Jurgen Klopp.

Since dislodging Alberto Moreno as first choice left-back at Anfield in December 2017, Robertson's blistering displays down the flank have seen him develop into one of the finest full-backs in Europe.

The former Hull star has been an integral part of a side that has played in the last two Champions League finals and he helped the Reds to a sixth European Cup with a 2-0 win over Tottenham in Madrid last week.

Liverpool have absolutely no interest in listening to any potential offers for the Glaswegian and the iconic Dalglish thinks his compatriot is well placed at Anfield under Klopp.

Dalglish wants Robertson to ignore the rumours of interest from elsewhere, however tentative they might be.

He told the Sunday Post: "Andy Robertson must wake up every morning and think it's Christmas Day.

"That’s why I don’t believe he’ll be considering leaving Liverpool for any other football club at home or abroad.

"I’m told he has been linked with a couple of big European clubs. But why would he want to leave Liverpool? Seriously, tell me why?

"Anyway, he is already playing abroad! Well, that was always the way I looked at it when I moved from Scotland to England to join Liverpool from Celtic."

The legendary Dalglish also talked up his delight at seeing Robertson lift the European Cup with the Reds in the Spanish capital last week.

"I was delighted for Andy, and every other player, to see him winning the Champions League last weekend," he added.

"I was privileged to be there, and as much as it was far from a classic, it was about what the team put into the previous rounds, particularly the semi-final comeback against Barcelona.

"Liverpool deserved to win the tournament and I was thrilled we did.

"I know this story has been repeated time and time again, but for Andy to go from being released by Celtic and playing amateur with Queen’s Park to lifting the most coveted prize in European club football is unbelievable.

"Andy just needs to keep showing the same application and focus that he has in the past five or six years.

"If it was good enough to get him to where he is now then he shouldn’t change anything.

"Indeed, I’m not sure there is much he needs to improve on or can improve on. That’s how highly I rate him."

Robertson scored for Scotland on Saturday night as Steve Clarke's reign got underway with a 2-1 win at home to Cyprus.
