Liverpool 'make offer' for Pepe - report

Liverpool have reportedly made an offer for Lille star Nicolas Pepe.

French outlet Le10Sport claim that the Reds have forwarded an offer on to the Ligue 1 club for Pepe, with Jurgen Klopp “a big fan”.

The striker is valued at £60million and at that cost it is unlikely he will be arriving at Anfield - plus we understand that Liverpool have made no contact with Lille over the transfer.

However Lille boss Christopher Galtier has confirmed that Pepe will leave the club this summer and that has increased speculation.

He recently said: “Pepe will leave. Life’s like that, football’s like that today.

“He is a player of the highest level who will have a big decision to make on the choice of his next club.

“There will be a battle between the great European teams.

“I hope that he will take a good amount of time to think about it, do his research, like he did when he came here and when he decided to stay here (last summer), find the right project.”

Rhian Brewster 'most exciting' youngster at Liverpool says former striker

Former Reds striker Neil Mellor believes Rhian Brewster is the most exciting youngster at Liverpool right now.

Mellor, speaking to AmericanGambler.com, said: “Liverpool have had a few lads that have gone out on loan.

“Harry Wilson has done very well for Derby in the Championship, Ryan Kent has done very well for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership – they are two players who have done extremely well.

“Ben Woodburn is a Welsh international and still very young and there is a lot of excitement around him.

“I suppose the obvious one would be Rhian Brewster who had an untimely injury for a year but a Golden Boot winner in the Under-17 World Cup team, you see [Callum] Hudson-Odoi who burst on to the scene from that team, so did Jadon Sancho.

“Brewster has a big future if he can listen to Jurgen and the coaches at Liverpool, and the senior players there.

“The inspiration comes from the latest players coming through the academy, which is young Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is the one who has progressed through the academy and been absolutely superb and is still so young at only 20. He’s the one who has done amazingly.

“Brewster is the one who really excites me because he can score goals, has the right attitude and listens to the coaching staff and Jurgen.”

Alisson Comparison

Alisson has compared the qualities of club side Liverpool with national outfit Brazil while on duty with the Selecao.

The goalkeeper enjoyed a stunning start to life at Anfield last term as he won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award as well as the Champions League in his debut campaign.

“The technical quality of the two sides [Brazil and Liverpool] is very good,” he told Yahoo.

“When we recover the ball, we always attack and seek the best option.

“And our team has evolved a lot this year by knowing how to control the game when needed. When the game is difficult, we slow it down with more passes. Last year, we played too high up and suffered many goals from counter attacks.

“This year we were more consistent defensively. That’s something we try to do with the Brazilian national team too.

“Of course the players want to attack, they are creative; but working the ball and tiring a rival is important in football and that makes a winning team.”
