Chester Zoo is hosting a huge family-friendly weekend with a sleepover this September.

Visitors to the zoo are invited to spend the night on the attraction’s 14 acre Nature Reserve, getting up close and personal with the wildlife and seeing live music throughout the weekend.

As part of its annual Wildlife Connections Festival, Chester Zoo is offering visitors the chance to camp on the grounds and take part in a nocturnal safari, guided by wildlife experts.

The festival will feature storytelling sessions and hands-on conservation activities, live music, theatre and family games.

The following day, sleepover guests can take part in an early bird tour around the zoo, before daytime visitors arrive.

The tour will finish with breakfast in the zoo’s Grade II listed restaurant, The Oakfield, which was the original family home of zoo founder, George Mottershead.

Annabella Bashforth, Assistant Team Manager of Informal Education at Chester Zoo, said: “The Wildlife Connections Festival Sleepover will offer a unique opportunity to camp at Chester Zoo and experience the wonderful wildlife of the zoo’s Nature Reserve after dark.

“It’s sure to be a lot of fun and we’re certain it will leave campers feeling far more connected to the incredible species we have living here in the UK.”

Wildlife Connections Festival comes to Chester Zoo on September 14 and 15.

Tickets to the festival are free, but those for the Wildlife Connections Sleepover are on sale now via www.chesterzoo.org and cost £34 per child and £59 per adult.

Prices include a hot dinner, hot drinks and breakfast.
