Week 2 high school football: Recaps for Friday's 20-game schedule

The high school football season continues tonight in the Lower Hudson Valley. There are 20 games on the schedule, highlighted by one of the most highly-anticipated games of the season: Yorktown at Somers.

I'll be in Somers tonight for the game, but we'll have four other reporters covering games as well. You can see where we will be in the schedule below.

Friday's game recaps

Yorktown 30, Somers 12: At Somers, Yorktown's Keith Boyer and Dylan Smith combined for 449 yards of offense and scored all four Husker touchdowns in the win. Yorktown improved to 2-0.

Spring Valley 21, Suffern 14: At Spring Valley, Chris White had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also rushed for a score. Jaquan Chambers had an interception with 1:40 remaining to seal the win. Spring Valley improved to 2-0.

Fox Lane 46, Greeley 15: At Fox Lane, Michael Washington rushed for five touchdowns for the Foxes, who improved to 2-0.

New Rochelle 33, North Rockland 7: At New Rochelle, Jessie Parson rushed for two touchdowns and Jaheim Gregory returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown. The Huguenots improved to 2-0.

Clarkstown South 56, Pelham 20: At Pelham, Dennis Riordan went 12 for 17 for 227 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another 34 yards and a score. Peter Glystea and James Spiegel each caught two touchdowns. Jack Quarrie also returned an interception 42 yards for another score for South, which improved to 2-0.

White Plains 41, Yonkers Brave 7: At White Plains, Christion Young rushed 13 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Josiah Harris added five catches for 110 yards.

Pleasantville 24, Albertus Magnus 6: At Pleasantville, Harrison Halesworth had 15 carries for 74 yards and three touchdowns. Mike Lacapria added 92 yards through the air. Matt May and Lenny Balducci each had six tackles and the Panthers' special teams recorded two safeties.

Bronxville 28, Putnam Valley 0: At Bronxville, the Bronco defense forced six turnovers to help them improve to 2-0. Connor Randall returned an interception for a touchdown.

Lakeland 52, Poughkeepsie 6: At Poughkeepsie, Matt Makar had eight carries for 102 yards and three touchdowns and Mike Castelli rushed for another 70 yards and a score. Tyler Santucci also went 11 for 12 for 135 yards and threw a TD pass to Rob Nardelli.

Hackley 35, Valhalla 14: At Valhalla, Hackley's defense forced four turnovers and Sean Ford returned a punt blocked by Jordan Johnson for a touchdown. Enzi Teacher added a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Brewster 28, Lourdes 14: At Lourdes, Tommy Consolato scored three touchdowns for the Bears, who improved to 2-0. He caught two of them from Chris Donohue and scored the other on an interception return. Paul Catalano also caught a TD pass.

John Jay-Cross River 34, Hen Hud 7: At John Jay, Luke Mercer went 6 for 9 for 187 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 110 yards on three carries, all of which went for touchdowns. The Indians, who moved to 2-0, scored all 34 points in the first 16 minutes. Max Mitraglia had 136 yards receiving and caught both TD passes.

Ketcham 20, Mahopac 19: At Ketcham, Oscar Gonzalez had an interception in the final minute to give Ketcham a dramatic win. Gio Sagginario scored on a short run with 1:27 remaining to give his team the lead after Mahopac had rallied for 19 straight points to pull in front.

Rye 28, Clarkstown North 7: At Clarkstown North, Declan Lavelle threw three touchdowns (Mark Surhoff, James Mackle, Matt Tepedino) for Rye, which improved to 2-0. Caden Whaling also added a touchdown on the ground.

Byram Hills 42, Nanuet 14: At Greeley, Jack Tillenger scored on a 70-yard touchdown pass and a 40-yard run. That was one of two TDs thrown by Nic Picca, who also connected on one to Aaron Falto. Cole Picca rushed for a pair of scores and Steven Franco added one on the ground. Byram Hills is now 2-0.

Nyack 36, Tappan Zee 14: At Nyack, the Indians' defense had five sacks and forced two turnovers and was led by Jachi Harper, who had 11 tackles and two sacks. Turaan Turner rushed for 87 yards on just five carries, including a 55-yard touchdown. Elijah Gray, Jaden Colonges, Gavin Figueroa and Isaiah Davis each had a rushing touchdown.
