Burke deals, Henriquez struggles

Brock Burke made his second start for Frisco since returning to the Roughriders after a bout of shoulder soreness, and like Tyler Phillips last night, Burke gave the Riders a quality start. In 6 IP, Burke allowed 2 runs courtesy of a Buddy Reed home run which was one of two hits he allowed on the night. Burke walked four — three of those coming when he seemed to lose the strike zone on the third inning — and struck out six.

Joe Barlow pitches the 8th and fanned all three batters he faced. He now has a 1.38 ERA for Frisco and has struck out 23 of the 48 Texas League hitters he has faced since his promotion.

Ronny Henriquez started for Hickory, and like Hans Crouse yesterday, he got chased early. Henriquez only made it through 1.2 IP, with Mark Parker saying he couldn’t locate his secondaries, resulting in the opposing batters sitting on, and punishing, a fastball that didn’t move much. 5 runs allowed on 6 hits and 2 walks with 1 K. However, Hickory came back to win on a walk off home run by Tyreque Reed, who was 3 for 3 with a walk and an HBP. Pedro Gonzalez and Jax Biggers also each had two hits.

Ryan Garcia made his Spokane debut tonight, and the Rangers 2019 second rounder faced the minimum in 2 IP, striking out 3 and walking 1.

Nashville got hammered tonight but Scott Heineman continued to be hot, going 3 for 3 with a homer and a walk.
