League 1 round-up: Whitehaven bounce back, Newcastle thrash Workington, hat-trick heaven

There were four hat-tricks scored in round 14 of League 1.

Newcastle Thunder eased past Workington Town 48-10 at Kingston Park.

Joe Brown, Matty Wright (2), Mikey Lewis (3), Misi Taulapapa (3) and Rhys Clarke scored for Thunder.

Oldham battered West Wales Raiders 56-6 at the Vestacare Stadium on Sunday.

Danny Langtree (3), Cameron Leeming (2), Jamie Greenwood, Gareth Owen, Harry Maders, Zack McComb and Matty Wilkinson (2) crossed the whitewash for the Roughyeds.

North Wales Crusaders made it back-to-back wins with a 14-6 victory over Keighley Cougars at the Queensway Stadium.

Earl Hurst and Karl Ashall went over for the Crusaders.

Doncaster ran in 10 tries to beat Coventry Bears 54-10 at Broadstreet RFC.

Jason Tali (3), Kieran Buchanan (2), Jordie Hedges (2), Connor Scott, Watson Boas and Kieron Lawton scored for the Dons. Coventry’s Jack Ray and Doncaster’s Russ Spiers were sent off in the 51st minute for an off-the-ball incident.

Whitehaven returned to winning ways with a 28-6 win over London Skolars at the New River Stadium.

Kris Coward, Sam Forrester, David Thompson, Connor Holliday and Callum Phillips crossed for the Cumbrian outfit.

Whitehaven remain top of the League 1 ladder, while Oldham, Newcastle, Hunslet, London Skolars occupy the top six.
