LOWELL — Firefighters battled a brush fire that spread into a wooded area at the end of Bolt Street on Sunday night.

Six trucks rushed to the one-alarm fire in the area 92 Bolt St. at about 9 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a “standard brush fire” along the Concord River, according to Deputy Chief Phillip Charron.

Firefighters watered down the flames for a couple hours, Charron said. There were no injuries.

Gabriella Ragucci, of Wilmington, said she was driving down Lawrence Street when she spotted flames on the other side of the Concord River. She turned around and pulled her car over to see fire and smoke rising out of the wooded area on the opposite side of the river.

“The whole thing was lit up orange,” Ragucci said.

The flashlights of firefighters could be seen flashing around in the dark wooded area as they fought the last pockets of flames. According to an emergency radio broadcast, the fire was under control at around 10 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, Charron said.
