I am getting so excited I can hardly contain myself. The long awaited showcase sidewalk on the corner of Oak Hill and Franklin roads is about to be completed.

Since no one ever walks there, it will be interesting to see how many pedestrians will suddenly appear to use this sidewalk that doesn’t go anywhere. Every time I go by it I am reminded of the song that Tevya sings in “Fiddler on the Roof.” If memory serves me right I believe it goes something like this: ” If I were a rich man I would build a house with one staircase going up and one staircase going down and another going nowhere at all just for show.” We now have sidewalks all over town that are seldom used and now we have one “just for show.” Can’t wait to see how many people will be enticed into moving into Fitchburg to take advantage of this gem.

Of course we also have streets that are so badly in need of repair that your teeth rattle whenever you drive on them. And as experience has shown, you also get to destroy your tires, shocks and undercarriage.

Will we ever see an end to the incredible waste that goes on in this city? Please stop wasting our tax money on these useless sidewalks and fix the roads.
