Michigan could, surprisingly, be a contender for a top 100 player after 4-star defensive tackle Jayson Jones announced on Twitter the five schools he will take official visits.

The reason it is surprising is because Jones is committed to Alabama, after giving his pledge to the Tide last July. Despite that, Jones is planning to take all of his allotted official visits.

Other than Michigan and Alabama, Florida, Oregon and Georgia Tech will also be hosting the No. 80 player in the country. Jones has not announced when he’ll take each visit yet, and it’s unsure whether they’ll be in the spring or fall period.

Pulling the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama away from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide will be tough, but the coaches have clearly been working hard on the talented prospect. We’ll see if Shaun Nua can work some magic once Jones is on campus.
