2020 4-star S Jordan Morant’s closest recruiting relationships are with Michigan coaches

Michigan will be tough to beat on the recruiting trail for Morant thanks to the coaching staff.

One of the top players on Michigan football’s recruiting board in 2020 is 4-star New Jersey safety Jordan Morant. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder is a fringe-top 100 player, and is wanted by just about every program in America.

But it appears Michigan may want him just a little more, as safeties coach Chris Partridge and linebackers coach Anthony Campanile have ties to the state of New Jersey and are tag-teaming this recruitment.

Morant visited Michigan for the first time last Thursday, and he said Campanile and Partridge have a lot to do with his interest in the Wolverines.

“I really love the coaching staff honestly. Especially coach Partridge, (Don) Brown, Campanile and coach (Jim) Harbaugh,” Morant told Maize n Brew. “And since coach Partridge and coach Campanile are from Jersey, I (have) known them for quite some time and they really make everything easier for me and (make me) very comfortable. So we have a really strong relationship among each other, which really helps with this process with Michigan.

“I would say pretty much we have the strongest relationship with any of the coaches.”

During his time in Ann Arbor, Morant checked out Michigan’s facilities and the weight room, and got to check out the Big House for the first time, which is something he said “was amazing to finally see in person.”

“Michigan was just amazing and I loved it,” he said.

Morant also sent a tweet to incoming safety Daxton Hill shortly after his visit.

Up next on Morant’s docket is a visit to Ohio State, which occurs today. He said he is hoping to finalize his commit by August, “if not maybe later on.”

I get the sense Morant’s relationships with Campanile and Partridge will take Michigan very far in this recruitment. If he ends up committing to the Maize and Blue, those two assistant coaches will be big reasons why.
