Manchester ranks in UK top five for employability

Manchester has once again been ranked the fifth best UK institution for employability in the Times Higher Education 2018 Global University Employability Rankings.

The ranking also makes us the best university in the country outside of the Oxbridge institutions and leading London Russell group universities. Our overall position globally was 35th.

This latest achievement continues a recent rich vein of international rankings success for Manchester. Last month we “surged” 27 places to 53rd on the ‘Reuters Top 100: The World's Most Innovative Universities’. The leap made the University the biggest mover on the 2018 league table.

Back in August we reached our highest-ever position in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), a result which followed the University jumping five places in June's QS World University Rankings.

The Global University Employability Ranking is one of the most robust and respected measures for employability across the higher education sector. To produce the rankings pollsters survey employment recruiters at management level and managing directors of international companies.

In total, the poll had 7,000 respondents who casted around 75,000 votes for the universities they felt were the best for graduate employability. Together those surveyed represent employers who have recruited more than 250,000 young graduates in the past 12 months.
