Easter Monday in Manchester is set to be another scorcher with temperatures soaring to 24C, but forecasters are warning the sunny weather isn't going to last.

Experts at the Met Office have said there will be plenty of warm sunshine throughout the day, however there may be a bit of cloud arriving by late afternoon.

Overnight it will remain dry and clear, while Tuesday will be another warm day with temperatures only dipping slightly to 22C.

Temperatures are well above average for Easter and those who have gone away for the long weekend may be kicking themselves, as Manchester's temperatures are hotter than the likes of Corfu, Madeira, Malta and even Tenerife.

However, the Met Office have warned the sunny weather is not going to last for much longer.

Storms are making their way towards the region, with a deluge of rain expected on Wednesday afternoon.

The showers could turn thundery and forecasters have said the rain will be 'heavy'.

Unfortunately a pattern of unsettled weather will continue until the weekend due to a change in the air direction.

Over the Bank Holiday a blast of warm air from the continent has brought settled conditions and high pressure, but this will switch to cool air from the west on Wednesday.

This means by Thursday temperatures will plummet to around 16C and by the weekend they will be around the 12C mark.

According to the Met Office, the remainder of April and early May will be unsettled, with average temperatures.

Helen Roberts, meteorologist, said: "Today it will be more of the same. There is some very warm sunshine to come.

"Top temperatures of around 24C. We could see some cloud bubbling up towards the later part of the day.

"It will stay dry, with a clear spell overnight.

"There will be another day of this tomorrow. Temperatures in the low 20s.

"Highs of 22C with a touch more cloud, but it will still be a very pleasant day."

"There will be some very heavy downpours, generally cooler air and it will be more unsettled.

"Further showers on Thursday, they will also be on the heavy-side.

Manchester was busy with sun-worshipers over the Bank Holiday.

"As we head towards the weekend it will be wet and windy weather from Friday to Saturday.

"Temperatures by Thursday will be around 16C, so quite a drop in temperatures.

"We have had high pressure bringing settled weather to the UK and a warm south-easterly breeze.

"But from Wednesday the air will turn to a westerly direction, bringing low pressure pushing towards the UK."
